Female singers have been around for hundreds of years. There have been many changes since the time of June Carter Cash. Female musicians these days are mostly just performing instead of singing. These female singers spend their time on stage shaking their derriere more than they do actually singing.
Not all female singers behave this way. There are singers like Carrie Underwood and Taylor Swift who have amazing voices and use those voices to attract fans. They have grace and class and you can see that when they are on stage. These young woman have such amazing voices that they do not have to take off their clothes to get attention.
These girls that get up on stage half dressed shaking their butt and breast are only doing it to get attention. Now you may think that I am an old person that just doesn't get the new dances. I'm not old and I do understand the dances. You can do these new dances without looking like a prostitute.
I admit I am a little old fashioned about clothes. I believe that you shouldn't leave your house dressed in shorts that show your butt cheeks and I certainly do not believe you should wear something like that on a stage with thousands of people looking at you.
I have tried for most of this article to avoid the Miley Cyrus topic but I just can not avoid it any longer. That girl has got a wonderful voice, great songs, and from what I can tell a great personality. So why is she degrading herself on stage and off with her antics and her clothes?
What happened to the days when a singer would walk out on stage wearing respectable clothes and sing a song with a wonderful voice? Some of the stars that did just that were Dolly Parton, Carly Simon, Stevie Nicks, and Aretha Franklin and they did it with dignity and clothes on.
These women didn't do vulgar dance moves and they wore clothes that didn't reveal too much. These female singers today have voices just as great as the older generation but you just don't realize it since all you can concentrate on is what they are wearing or not wearing in most cases. You are also distracted from their voices by the vulgar dance moves they do in their routines. Every decade the clothes get just a little more skimpy and the dances get a little more vulgar.
These female singers don't have to act this way to get attention. They are famous because someone realized they had a great voice and so they signed them. These women can win over their fans with just their voice they don't have to strip down to their underwear and dance so vulgarly that I wouldn't want my child watching. I understand that dances these days are a bit dirty but they take it a bit too far. The parents of these singers must be so humiliated I know I would be.
